Frequently Asked Questions
Question: What is the difference between skilled home care and private duty services?
Answer: Skilled home health care can be provided for those who have a medical condition
that will be helped by the skill of a nurse, physical, speech or occupational therapist.
Private duty care is also known as personal care. In this case, the person often
needs a home health aide to help with bathing, dressing or meal preparation. At
VNSA, we can help you with both of these services. Visit our Skilled Home Care and
Personal Care Services sections to learn more.
Question: What should I look for when searching for a reputable home care agency?
Answer: There are several ways you will know if you have a reputable home care agency.
These include a medicare approval and JCAHO accreditation, as well as the length
of time in business and the experience of trusted family and friends. VNSA has been
in business for over 55 years and is one of the most trusted names in home care
services. To learn more, visit our Choosing a Health Care Agency page under the
About Us section.
Question: How is payment made for Home Health Care services?
Answer: VNSA is a Medicare-certified organization.* In addition to medicare, we
accept many types of heath insurance. The Patient Accounts Department at Visiting
Nurse Service and Affiliates can assist you to ensure that you receive the maximum
benefit of your health care insurance coverage for our services. Please visit Insurance
and Payment Information section for contact information.
Question: Do you have a
Volunteer program?
Answer: Since 1982, hundreds of dedicated volunteers have used
their talents and compassion to enhance the lives of hospice patients and their
families by providing them with companionship and support. These patients depend
upon our volunteers to help them maintain their independence and provide them with
physical and emotional comfort. Visit our Volunteer Opportunities page to learn
